Best Book Boyfriends of 2012

I’ve read many dozens of books this year, with desirable boyfriends and ones that I wish were real . . .

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)

At first I wasn’t sure about Tod, but after what he’s done since My Soul to Steal and especially in IF I DIE how can you turn him down. Then in Before I Wake sighs the perfect man. He would do just about anything for Kaylee while she struggles to redefine herself after becoming dead. He makes her feel whole and alive more than anything nd he loves her unconditionally.

“For being here. For saving my afterlife and my sanity. For making me look forward to every single day, instead of dreading eternity. And for the record, I don’t care whether you’re wearing  jeans, or the hottest, most workplace-inappropriate candy-striper uniform to ever grace the sterile white halls of this humble public death trap. I’m just glad you’re here.”

Ascend (Trylle Trilogy, #3)

Since book two, I was unsure about Loki, until the end and led him to being quiet an ally for Wendy. He rather be beaten up by the king than bring Wendy to the King. Loki proven himself to Wendy and the rest of the Trylle kingdom despite the fact from where he is from. In the end Loki knew Wendy deserves to be married to love  and they did with the early surprise that had them both stumped but were ready to take on anything.

I knew it was the best thing for you. But I realized how terribly I was going to miss you, and we’d only spent a few moments together.” He brushed back a hair from my face. ” I don’t think I’ve ever really loved anyone until I met you”

Xavier Woods

Heaven (Halo, #3)

Seriously how can you not love Xavier? He is beyond handsome and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect Beth after the two committed the most serious crime that Heaven and Hell disagree with. But there was a reason for it all, in the end it didn’t matter his torture was having Beth taken away until she fallen from heaven to become human.

“Baby . . . aren’t you forgetting something? You’ve been to Hell and back. You survive. You’ve seen your friends die and almost died yourself too many times. Nothing should scare you now. Don’t you know how strong you are . . . how strong we are?”

Noah Hutchins

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)

The guy that went through everything and poses as a Bad Boy act, no ones knew his past until he found Echo.  Noah was trying to do everything for his brothers after a horrible fire that killed their parents. Then ended up in foster home where he fought against foster parents.  Noah thought he could do anything but in some cases he needed that one person he could confide with. In the end he help Echo out of her darkness, help her find herself once again and her memories.

“If you’re scared, tell me. If you need to cry and scream, then do it. And you sure hell don’t walk away from us because you think it would be better for me. Here’s the reality, Echo: I want to be by your side. If you want to go to the mall stark naked so you can show the world your scars, then let me hold your hands. If you want to see your mom, then tell me that, too. I may not always understand, but damn, baby, I’ll try.”

Archer Cross

Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3)

We love him, we hate him, and then we love him. Of course we were sure of his motives until the second book and then change his way in the third book when helping Sophie beat the battle at Hex Hall and to prevent a new dark ages.

“We’ve tried to kill each other, fought ghouls, and kissed a lot. I’m pretty sure we’re married in some cultures.”

Barrow Hess

Rift (Nightshade Prequel, #1)

A standoff warrior, but it is true that he is just like others that fallen in love. Barrow trained Ember and found himself falling in love, which was the last thing on his mind. In the end he chose to step away but Ember confronted him and then Barrow reveals his true feelings.  The second book should very well meet the standard of what I’d expect of Barrow and Ember so RISE please come soon!

“No, Ember, that is all your strength and none of mine.” She balked, but he kissed her, murmuring against her lips, “And that is why I love you.”

Best Villains of 2012

Which villains can I pick at? the ones that won’t come and kill me for stating the truth.

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)Soul Screamers: Avari Hellion of Greed

Yeah he is the worst hellion you could meet, and don’t ever sell your soul for greed. He’s been causing trouble for Kaylee throughout the series since My Soul to Save. Avari have found ways to toture Kaylee, one way was impersonating people in her inner circle to a point where she didn’t know whose is whose. Then Avari made deals with other hellions if he were able to get Kaylee’s soul (well before she died) Now in Before I Wake, Avari is able to possess dead people from Kaylee’s past screams, Now the matter is what does Avari have in mind after so many failed attempts?

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5)TMI: City of Lost Souls: Sebastian (Clary’s brother?)

honestly this guy doesn’t care about anything but himself, he was filled with rage and revenge for his father Valentine. The twisted part was possessing Jace  body and mind because Jace’s blood help him return to life/death. Using Lilith’s bond to alter Jace’s memories to believe they are on the same side and plans on raising and army of demons and dark shadowhunters to destroy the world. This link makes it unable to kill him because it will kill Jace too. After a dark ritual, he uses the Infernal Cup to create more evil nephilims and almosts turns Clary but is quickly stopped by the arrival of the Lightwoods and their allies. Before he manages to escape, Clary is forced to stab Jace with the angelic sword Glorious, severing his bond with Sebastian and causing the latter horrible pain. At the end of the book he sends a message to Maryse Lightwood, bloody severed angel wings with a single piece of paper saying “I am coming”

Dark Kiss (Nightwatchers, #1)Dark Kiss: Samantha’s Aunt Natalie and the GREYs

Yes, Samantha’s aunt is certain a villain because I see her more as a foe than a friend. She created the Greys and sent out a particular Grey after her niece Samantha who was unaware just how dangerous a kiss could be. Her plan was to open the barriers to other cities and create more GREYs.  She tried to covert Samantha to realizes the powers of the Greys are meant to be but for reasons Samantha can’t trust her.

Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)Finale: Dante

He trained Nora but turn his back against her because he firmly believes that he is higher than Nephilium and fallen angels. He created lies above lies to get followers and manipulated Nora. Greed is Power and Devilcraft was created.

Best Book Covers of 2012

from me to you, spreding the joy of Christmas 🙂

Let’s Vote! Which Book Covers are the best of 2012?

I’ve decided to choose US Covers Vs International Covers that were beyond my favorite.

So what do you like? What do you love? What don’t you like?

Before I Wake

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)What I like about these covers, are that they haven’t change the theme of each one. With the UK covers they are presented with a gray and mysterious look. The US fit the bill for all of the other covers presenting Kaylee in a dress.(Only a few was present in the books)  I was curious on what the color for Before I Wake was going to be because Rachel have quip that she’s doesn’t wear pink and therefore Kaylee was presented wearing a pink dress. Rachel Loves the Pink cover and went to find a pink sharpie so she can sign the books in pink ink. From what I can tell that it is a one shoulder dress. Its one of my favorite beside the Sapphire (My Soul to Steal) dress and the omnibus covers white (Volume 1) and Black (Volume 2)

I died on a Thursday—killed by a monster intent on stealing my soul. The good news? He didn’t get it.The bad news? Turns out not even death will get you out of high school…Covering up her own murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh expected. After weeks spent “recovering,” she’s back in school, fighting to stay visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning time alone with her new reaper boyfriend. But to earn her keep in the human world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal status won’t keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn’t just gambling with her own life.

Partials (Partials, #1)I haven’t read many science-fiction books until now, and what made me pick up Dan Wells’s PARTIALS book was based on the inguring  cover. The US cover remains me of an X-Files Theme or something I’ve seen on television on the SYFY channel that was based on the end of the world disasters. Both covers aren’t much different from each other and I could be happy with either one, I’ve seen the second book of this series and it is similar to the first book but has one extra character on the cover facing the future.

The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials–engineered organic beings identical to humans–has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.
Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what’s left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them–connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.
Dan Wells, acclaimed author of “I Am Not a Serial Killer,” takes readers on a pulsepounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question–one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.

Rift (Nightshade Prequel)

Rift (Nightshade Prequel, #1)Rift I’d personally like the US cover for Rift because it fits the story, the other cover is unclear for the concept of the book, yes there was a love story but that didn’t come til later in the books when the two characters admits their feeling to each other. This book was from the medieval time/era so the other cover doesn’t fit the theme.

Chronicling the rise of the Keepers, this is the stunning prequel to Andrea Cremer’s internationally bestselling Nightshade trilogy!
Sixteen-year-old Ember Morrow is promised to a group called Conatus after one of their healers saves her mother’s life. Once she arrives, Ember finds joy in wielding swords, learning magic, and fighting the encroaching darkness loose in the world. She also finds herself falling in love with her mentor, the dashing, brooding, and powerful Barrow Hess. When the knights realize Eira, one of their leaders, is dabbling in dark magic, Ember and Barrow must choose whether to follow Eira into the nether realm or to pledge their lives to destroying her and her kind.
With action, adventure, magic, and tantalizing sensuality, this book is as fast-paced and breathtaking as the Nightshade novels.

Pushing the Limits

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)I like the US editon rather than the UK because you can see the slip cover enlarge on the book, but because I don’t know what UK really is. It is an IMO matter. The cover is so dark and brooding but I love it, I found it drawn to me and I kept thinking I had to pick this book up and read it. Best decison I ever made.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.
Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again

Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)Finale (Hush, Hush, #4) The epic ending of the HUSH, HUSH series presented a very compelling cover, both version are similar in image and font but across the seas, they use a red font color rather than white or black like the other books in the series. They did a pretty good job on keeping the gray-scale and featuring either Patch or Nora. This time the cover portray what happening in the book, a reach for the love of your life and you’ll do anything to protect him or her.

Fates unfurl in the gripping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Hush, Hush saga.
Nora is more certain than ever that she is in love with Patch. Fallen angel or no, he is the one for her. Her heritage and destiny may mean they are fated to be enemies, but there is no turning her back on him. Now Nora and Patch must gather their strength to face one last, perilous trial. Old enemies return, new enemies are made, and a friend’s ultimate betrayal threatens the peace Patch and Nora so desperately want. The battle lines are drawn—but which sides are they on? And in the end, are there some obstacles even love can’t conquer?

And don’t forget! Head on over to to enter an Box of ARCs, probably the best you could get 🙂

Best Books read in 2012

Sighs . . . I have read so many books this year that I still can’t believe I “Might” not make my reading challenge. BUT I can share some of my Best Books Read in 2012 🙂

Since most were series books, I’m having a hard time debating . . . Here’s goes nothing

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Kitty and the Silver Bullet (Kitty Norville, #4)Heaven (Halo, #3)Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)Ascend (Trylle Trilogy, #3)Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2)Dark Kiss (Nightwatchers, #1)Partials (Partials, #1)City of Lost Souls by Cassandra ClareBloodrose (Nightshade, #3)

Pushing the Limits

Everything was so raw in Pushing the Limits, I love the writing and the storyline PLUS two most unlikely lovers that each had their own dark secret past.

Kitty and the Silver Bullet

Major things happen in this book for Kitty, she has a new mate and love plus obtain a pack which makes her the Alpha female and Ben the Alpha male. While something in her life that she never thought of and made her wonder on certain things. But danger always follows Kitty but she stood her ground like every battle she’s faces

The finale of the Halo series, which made me sad because I love Beth and Xavier. They were willing to put everything at risk to be together, while heaven and hell didn’t agree with them their love never faultered. The ending was truly bittersweet as Beth and Xavier now has the rest of their life together.

Before I wake

You all should know but if you don’t sorry to be spoliery but I have to say it. Kaylee die . . . YEP but don’t worry she came back as a extractor. She isn’t with toxic Nash anymore (sorry Nash) but she did a 360 and fell in love with Nash’s older Reaper brother Tod. Now Kaylee must find her place in the human world while hellions are threating to ruin her sanity.

Prepare for WAR, prepare for marriage, prepare for falling in love with the enemy? Wendy’s duties are split into parts, when she becomes queen and falls in love with Loki and married Tove. But Wendy’s friends always help her stand tall while others looks at her like a traitor because of who her father is. Can Wendy save her kingdom, or will she fail?

Hex hall series

If you like Harry Potter, you’ll love the Hex Hall series. You’ll meet Sophie as she learn about who she is and what she is as far as being a witch, she has an awesome vampire roommate, a rlivary, and a thing for the hottest warlock who just happens to be a huge threat towards her.

Dark Kiss

One kiss changes everything and when you are helping fallen angels and demons alike you should only do that but how can you resist one fallen angel? Then you learn about things you never thought exist.

What do you do when the survival rates for humans drops? the virus RM threatens humanity and the “Partials” are the reasons (So they say) One thing to do is capture a partial but along the way you find out something you never expected?

City of Lost Souls

When you anticipating this for montbhs and is left with questions of what will happen next? Yeah you get it from this book as well, so good luck.

The conclusion of Nightshade, where just about anything happen and a new look for Calla. Her heart torn in two and a fight for her life is in motion

Picture12Hey what do you know, its December twelve, twenty-twelve or more knowlgy as 12/12/12. Now according to somewhere, anywhere . . .it is the last Major Numerical Date in this Century. It also say that these types of numbers happen every 100 years. While that is interesting, the fact is I know my great-grandmother has been around for almost 95 years so if she most likely experience this numerical dates.

In fun ordeal, lets play a game . . . if we can, list twelve things (anything) that happen in 2012.

Top 12:

1. I’ve read 12 books this years

2. I started a new program

3. Finally cut my hair short

4. Watch the final Twilight Saga movie (It was a BIG deal!)

5. I’ve written over 200 pages worth of my writing even though its all rough drafts

6. Most likely purchases 12 books off Barnes and Nobles

7. My cousins got married although I was not present

8. Shopping with aunts and cousins (major shopping spree!)

9. Did I win 12 books this year? According to Goodreads I did!

10. Meet Andrea Cremer, the author of Nightshade

11. Ace a math test!

12. Participated in blogs challenges

Well that is it for now, I have finals coming up and I’ll be posting christmas segment later next week!

Nightshade Day

So today was proably one of the coldest day for the beginng of winter . . . . There was snow on my car this morning

Anyway, I had my infusion today and it went by so fast that I got done a little early than expected, but I guess that what happen when you’re focused on a HUGE English Paper!

So that what I did, but that wasn’t the highlight of my day, Book Author of Nightshade Andrea Cremer was making a appearance in St.Paul, MN and I thought PERFECT! An author event that I finally get to go too. So I checked out the bookstore “Addendum” that was hosting the event and told them I would be there!

THEY  had the orginal cover of Nightshade (Don’t worry Pictures will come) and after an hour I decided that I would purchase the first copy 🙂

She talks about her upcoming projects and if she has many projects in her head (yes she doest), She also talk briefly about her Adult Novel that will correlates with the Nightshade series. Oh did I mentiont there was red wine? although I’m not a fan of red wine but it was okay.

She then read a passage from Rift although I was hoping that she might have a few early copy of RISE but no  . . .

I love the experience I had talking to an real author although I speak to them virtually on Twitter, it was bittersweet to talk to them face to face.

I met Katherine and Marcus the people that hosted the event and they knew me right away which was funny and I was glad to meet them.

Then Andrea Cremer signed all my books I brought, I didn’t bring Bloodrose because I purchase it at B&N earlier previous year and it was a signed copy.

So here’s are some photos of the event

Quick Cover Reveal

So if you remember awhile back where I read the most amazing book and it was so raw because it was awesome

Katie McGarry’s Pushing the Limits bring the next installment called

This is Beth’s Story if you remember her from the first book as one of Noah’s close friend

Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)The Blurb

“I dare you…”

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk’s home life, they’d send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom’s freedom and her own happiness. That’s how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn’t want her and going to a school that doesn’t understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn’t get her, but does….

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can’t tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn’t be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won’t let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all…

Now the sad part is that this book doesn’t come out til May 2013, so we got a ways to go BUT if you want to read a deleted scene of Noah and Echo . . .

Tomorrow go to and get a taste.

Happy Thanksgiving

WOW, this month is going by fast . . . I truly can’t believe that December is just around the corner and I got a lot to do in a short amount of time.

So what did everyone have on their table? Turkey, Potatoes, Stuffing? WHAT?

Well we most certainly had Turkey an 10 lbs Turkey that was nicely cooked by my dad the chef. He made everything for Thanksgiving

It only makes me wonder how I will prepare my feast when I’m on my own . . . HELP 😦

What else did we have?

Our standard tradition are

  • homemade French Fries (Yes they are the best!)
  • Homemade dinner rolls
  • carrots/celery
  • homemade mashed potatoes
  • Mom made green beans casserole which I’m not a favor of
  • Oh and of course Champagne!!!

It was a little hot in the house that travel to the closed porch which started getting cold. So I wrote my cat’s name “Buddy”

Buddy getting some turkey, he love turkey. I give him the cold cut turkey store brought every night so now he has real turkey for awhile

UGH I ate too much Turkey . . . Haha no he’s really that big 15 lbs worth and he was in the process of getting up. He’s an old boy not that 11 is old but he sure acts like it.

Happy Thanksgiving

Breaking Dawn Part 2

First off if you haven’t seen this movie yet, you better go see it I can say as a fan of the books and the movies that it is the BEST movie out of the whole saga!

My girlfriend BFF decided to do a Twilight Marathon yesterday in preparation of going to see the final movie (tears) we didn’t watch number one because we have both just watch it the other day so we watch the remaining three movies.

It was all giggles, questions, trivia of joy at my house and also I like to talk about actor/actresses future career and what could be good for them later on after Twilight is all done with. Here’s what I came up with

Robert Pattinson: Should do more oldies theme movies, he fits well with that generation and does exquisite work with those type of movies. So I hope to see more of him in the future.

Kristen Stewart: She has a pretty good movie roles to do in the next few years, and she can pretty much do anything except battle war/battle cry (Sry I was really disappointed with her acting in Snow White and the Huntman)

Taylor Lautner: Everyone is sad to not see shirtless Taylor anymore but remember he is only 20 year old, he’s still in that awkward stage of being an actor since his development in New Moon. I will say that Twilight will not be the only time we will see him shirtless but I would hold high hope for when he does more adult movie roles where it does involves him to be shirtless.

And now for the Movie review: I will not spoil anything from the movie for those who haven’t seen it yet. But I will talk about those highly anticipated scenes we look forward to from the book.

First off they credit everyone from all the movies and that was really bittersweet of them to do that even if it did take two minutes or less to show them all, they did it in the end as well. So praise the cast that made this book series come to life.

You remember the end of Breaking Dawn Part 1, that where its takes you in Part 2 (that is all I will say, but you might have seen youtube or news that shows little clips from the movie)

The Top Five things we were looking forward to . . .

1. The big showdown between Bella and Jacob (You know what I’m talking about)

2. The Arm Wrestling Scene

3. The showdown between the covens and the volturi

4. Jacob phases in front of Bella’s dad (that was classic)

5. Baby Renesmee . . . well I was curious how they would show her ability

No I am not going to list the vampire sex everyone was talking about and was looking forward to, I say if the movie was rated R that might have been different (IMO)

You get to meet a lot of different vampires from around the world and some new wolf pack since Jacob is alpha, and you get to meet some funny and creepy vampires. I was creep out by two certain vampires.

You get to see the beautiful Renesmee in different stages of aging more solely on her 6 year of age than anything else, Bill Condon did a very fine job on making this last two movie so close to the book. He brought so many visuals that was near impossible for us to think of, and he picked out a really great music that fits so well like butter and jelly. Although I was disappointed that Muse didn’t feature in the last two, the bands in this movie was a new taste to me. Plus with Stephenie Meyer input it made it all much more sweeter.

Now every actor/actress were saying they changed something in the movie from the book it was the term “twist of a knife” well they got that right! Oh my god I was at the edge of my seat as well everyone else. I actually started doing my laughing cry because I was so overwhelm. a big PLUS was just making me cry it has to take a lot to make me really cry because I have an overactive tearducts problem/ and allergies(sometimes) so I tear quite frequent but I’m not really crying.

I seriously can’t wait for the DVD to come out when I can always relive the moments, now on Kristen/Robert acting skills this time around was very comfortable and almost real life aspect (which I’m sure it had to do with them dating at the time but I hear they’re back but taking it slow after what happen this summer) Bella and Edward were in the honeymoon stages throughout the movie and how they acted as parents to Renesmee was amazing. They seems more human than vampires . . .weird.

What will happen in 5 or 10 years from now? I really have no idea . . . they really can’t remake the movies in any way shape or form (or at least I hope they don’t do anything like that) There is an option of a Renesmee and Jacob story but Stephenie doesn’t know if she will write one. . .

Teaser Tuesday

I hope you all decided to join Hackaroo’s Reviews “Shifters Read-A-Long” I’m so excited to be re-reading this book again, although I have a very good memory of what happens in the books.

For the Month of November, We’re reading “Stray” and I’m going to give a teaser to you all!

My teaser will be based on a random page but first let’s introduce Stray.

Goodreads Description

There are only eight breeding female werecats left . . . And I’m one of them.

I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

I’d been warned about Strays — werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back . . . for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I’m no meek kitty. I’ll take on whatever — and whoever — I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays — ’cause I got claws, and I’m not afraid to use them . .

And now for the teaser . . .  flipping pages . . .flipping, flipping and STOP! Page 158

“I studied Marc’s face, conscious suddenly of how much he’d changed since the day we met, the morning after his mother died. He’d looked so scared, lying alone in the guest bed, a wisp of a boy with dark curly hair and deep dimples. He’d arrive at the Lazy S with nothing but a threadbare suitcase and  sad scowl But he was a fighter. Even as an eight-year-old, I’d recognized the will to survive in the quiet defiance in his eyes and hard line of his mouth, both of which said he’d seen the worst the world had to offer, and that nothing I put him through could possibly compare.”

Just a reminder, Stray should be read by the 25th of Novemeber and on the 27th we will recap and chat about STRAY. Also I wish you all a Happy Thanksgivings 🙂
